So it’s race day here at the Bol d’Or…its been a hot couple of days with plenty of action on and off the track. The qualifying has been run and done with Team SRC Kawasaki’s, Randy De Puniet the fastest man on track (by a French mile).
De Puniet put in a scintillating 1:54:007 around the 5.673km Paul Ricard Circuit, with no one even coming close. Second on the time sheet was De Puniet’s teammate Jeremey Guarnoni who was almost a second off the pace with a 1:54.936. The only other rider to get into the 1:54’s was Kenny Foray (ERC-BMW Motorrad Endurace) with a 1:54.997 which he set in Q1 on Thursday.
Fastest of the Non-Factory Teams was the Wepol Racing / Penz13 Yamaha outfit who qualified a very respectable 7th. Considering this team has only been up and running for just over 3 weeks it was a mighty effort from the boys to achieve this result. All bodes well for this team if the reliability of the R1 is as good as the BMW from last season. Despite a small mechanical in Warmup this morning the team remains confident of a good result.
