Team 18 will press forward with plans to test at Winton Motor Raceway on Tuesday 10 May, with Mark Winterbottom and Scott Pye to share driving duties in Winterbottom’s #18 IRWIN Racing Holden ZB Commodore.
The team had originally targeted a full test day with both cars, however plans were adjusted following a major crash for Pye’s #20 Nulon Racing car at the Perth SuperNight.
That incident saw a 10G impact with the concrete wall on the pit straight at Wanneroo Raceway on Lap 2 of Race 11 and has resulted in a lengthy repair process which kicked into gear last Wednesday as soon as the team’s transporter returned from Western Australia.
The car has been placed on a chassis jig to repair parts of the framework which has ruled it out from appearing at the test day, with the team focussed on repairing the car in time for the Pizza Hut Winton SuperSprint on 21-22 May.
The team will share resources during the test day with Red Bull Ampol Racing, who will be in attendance for a rookie test with Broc Feeney. Team 18 are a customer team of Triple Eight Race Engineering, with the day to serve as crucial preparation for the upcoming Winton event.
Team 18 will test alongside other Victorian teams on Tuesday 10 May before the Pizza Hut Winton SuperSprint commences for the Repco Supercars Championship on Saturday 21 May.

“It’s not an ideal situation only going with one car up to Winton, however we will certainly make the most of it.
“I think most if not all Victorian teams are testing, so I think there’s more advantages to test some new bits and pieces ahead of the next race.
“It will be a full-on day with Frosty doing the majority of the driving while Scott will hop in and get plenty of laps as well.
“We’ll have our full crew on hand so it will be a busy day with plenty of things we want to throw at the car.
“It will be great to be garaged next door to Triple Eight with Broc Feeney who have a rare opportunity to test there as well, so that will only strengthen our ties with them.
“We will be keeping an eye on each other, sharing our data and resources so there will be plenty going on between us.”
