Superbike, Superstock and Senior TT Races Top 20 Plates

With anticipation and excitement building all the time for this year’s Isle of Man TT Races, that will ramp up today with the top 20 start numbers for the RST X D3O Superbike, RL360/Opul Superstock and Milwaukee Senior TT Races finally being revealed. For the third time in four years, John McGuinness MBE will lead the field away at number one, the Honda Racing UK rider enjoying a more than profitable 2024 with fifth, sixth and seventh place finishes. In a TT career now spanning almost thirty years, the Superbike TT will be the 23-time winner’s 112th TT start. Moving up the order to number two this year is David Johnson (Platinum Club Racing Kawasaki), the Australian hoping for a trouble-free campaign in 2025. Next to go is one of the pre-event favourites, Dean Harrison. Starting at number 3, and one of only four riders to lap at more than 135mph, a second successive year with Honda Racing UK should see him closer to the top spot. He’s followed by regular top six finisher Jamie Coward; the Yorkshire rider has switched to the KTS Racing powered by Stanley Stewart BMW this time around, which he hopes will propel him to […]

MotoGP Rider Quotes from Qatar Grand Prix

Rider Quotes from the Qatar Moto Grand Prix Marc Márquez (P1) – “The coming together at turn one with Alex was more my fault than his, but despite the missing wing I felt no behaviour change on the bike. I managed the race as I wanted: I saw that Morbidelli was trying to pull away, but I wasn’t worried, as the priority for me was to manage the front-tyre wear. I knew that by riding this way, Pecco would have come closer, and it happened. When he overtook me, my real race started and I pushed a bit more in order to make the difference in the last ten laps.” Francesco Bagnaia (P2) – “All in all, I’m happy with today’s result, as you never know what can happen when you start from eleventh place on the grid. The only thing that upsets me a bit is that on Sunday I’m always a bit more competitive and effective, especially in the early laps, and I manage to complete some overtakes. On Saturday, on the other hand, I always struggle in doing the same, so I need to understand what to do in order to improve and make a step forward. That said, […]

GM appoints Team 18 to replace Triple Eight

General Motors has revealed Team 18 as its new homologation team in Supercars, and announced an alliance between all teams, General Motors Motorsports and Chevrolet Racing. After a weeks-long search, triggered by Triple Eight’s switch to Ford, Team 18 has been confirmed as the official homologation partner of Chevrolet Racing. The Melbourne-based, Charlie Schwerkolt-owned team has campaigned GM machinery since 2015, with Team 18 operating as a two-car squad since 2020. Team 18 won out in a race that seemed set to be won by PremiAir Racing, with the former to take over from Ford-bound Triple Eight next season. Since the start of 2024, Schwerkolt has recruited decorated engineers Adrian Burgess and Dr Geoff Slater, with the team also benefiting from the experience of Richard Hollway, Som Sharma and Andrew Donnelly. Also confirmed Friday was that GM Motorsports, along with General Motors Australia & New Zealand, will form a new alliance with Chevrolet teams as part of its ongoing commitment to Supercars. GM said it will continue to work with Supercars, Team 18, and all Chevrolet teams to provide transparency and input throughout the homologation process. “Today marks an exciting new chapter for Team 18 Racing. There is no doubt […]

Jack Doohan ‘horrific’ 185mph practice crash

Jack Doohan is “shaken” but “unharmed” after suffering a high-speed crash during Friday practice at the F1 Japanese Grand Prix. The Australian, who sat out of opening practice as Alpine opted to run reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa on home soil, lost control of his car and spun off into the barriers at Turn 1. Doohan suffered extensive damage to his Alpine, including losing two wheels, and was seen gingerly walking away from the scene of the huge crash. He was uninjured in the accident and did not suffer a concussion, having been cleared following a trip to the Suzuka medical centre. The shunt was clocked at 185mph, according to Alpine, who are continuing to assess the cause of the accident. “If you were watching free practice two you would have seen the quite horrific accident of Jack Doohan into Turn 1,” Sky Sports F1 pitlane reporter Ted Kravitz said. “We haven’t seen a crash of this speed and with this kind of impact, certainly in the whole of 2025 and I can’t think when back to 2024. “185mph. Just think about that. Think about if you’ve been on the motorway and been naughty and done 15mph over the speed limit at 85mph. Think […]

James Hillier on OMG Racing withdrawal

OMG Racing’s withdrawal from racing has had knock-on effects on WTF Racing. James Hiller has discussed the ‘shock’ he felt when it was announced that OMG Racing and WTF Racing have both withdrawn from racing. Hillier has ridden for Alan Gardner’s OMG Team on the roads since 2022, when he first piloted a Yamaha R1. However, since then, the road racing team has been named ‘WTF Racing’ after OMG Racing became the official Yamaha UK BSB team. The one-time TT race winner was set to return with WTF Racing for the 2025 road racing season. This year, Hillier was set to pilot a Honda CBR1000RR-R, but the recent announcement means that he is now ride-less only weeks ahead of the season. “My phone’s been pretty crazy since [Tuesday] afternoon when the news was released,” Hillier said in a video posted to his Instagram account. “That was honestly a big shock, I really didn’t see that coming; it’s not great timing, especially on April Fools’ Day. “I wished it was a joke but unfortunately it isn’t. “I also want to say a big thank you to Alan Gardner for all the effort and time he’s put into racing; with OMG and WTF – the whole […]
