Jack Miller Back with HRC Next Year

Jack Miller’s place on the MotoGP grid for 2026 is far from assured — but Honda are keen to secure the Aussie’s services for their WorldSBK team, according to recent reports. While it’s understood a formal offer hasn’t been signed off, sources in the paddock suggest that Miller is firmly on Honda’s radar. The Japanese manufacturer — still trying to unlock results since returning to full-factory status in 2020 — is believed to be considering new and experienced talent for a reset, and Miller’s vast MotoGP experience with four brands makes him a standout candidate. Miller remains committed to MotoGP with Pramac Yamaha, and is focused on turning his form around approaching the second half of 2025 season. The Queenslander had a positive outing in Austin, finishing fifth and delivering one of Yamaha’s better results to that point. He also showed encouraging one-lap speed in Thailand, qualifying fourth and looking strong early in the sprint before crashing out while running at the front. With anticipation and excitement building all the time for this year’s Isle of Man TT Races, that will ramp up today with the top 20 start numbers for the RST X D3O Superbike, RL360/Opul Superstock and Milwaukee Senior TT Races finally being revealed. For the third time in four years, John McGuinness MBE will lead the field away at number one, the Honda Racing UK rider enjoying a more than profitable 2024 with fifth, sixth and seventh place finishes. In a TT career now spanning almost thirty years, the Superbike TT will be the 23-time winner’s 112th TT start. Moving up the order to number two this year is David Johnson (Platinum Club Racing Kawasaki), the Australian hoping for a trouble-free campaign in 2025. Next to go is one of the pre-event favourites, Dean Harrison. GM appoints Team 18 to replace Triple Eight

General Motors has revealed Team 18 as its new homologation team in Supercars, and announced an alliance between all teams, General Motors Motorsports and Chevrolet Racing. After a weeks-long search, triggered by Triple Eight’s switch to Ford, Team 18 has been confirmed as the official homologation partner of Chevrolet Racing. The Melbourne-based, Charlie Schwerkolt-owned team has campaigned GM machinery since 2015, with Team 18 operating as a two-car squad since 2020. Team 18 won out in a race that seemed set to be won by PremiAir Racing, with the former to take over from Ford-bound Triple Eight next season. Since the start of 2024, Schwerkolt has recruited decorated engineers Adrian Burgess and Dr Geoff Slater, with the team also benefiting from the experience of Richard Hollway, Som Sharma and Andrew Donnelly. Also confirmed Friday was that GM Motorsports, along with General Motors Australia & New Zealand, will form a new alliance with Chevrolet teams as part of its ongoing commitment to Supercars. Jack Doohan ‘horrific’ 185mph practice crash

Jack Doohan is “shaken” but “unharmed” after suffering a high-speed crash during Friday practice at the F1 Japanese Grand Prix. The Australian, who sat out of opening practice as Alpine opted to run reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa on home soil, lost control of his car and spun off into the barriers at Turn 1. Doohan suffered extensive damage to his Alpine, including losing two wheels, and was seen gingerly walking away from the scene of the huge crash. He was uninjured in the accident and did not suffer a concussion, having been cleared following a trip to the Suzuka medical centre. James Hillier on OMG Racing withdrawal

OMG Racing’s withdrawal from racing has had knock-on effects on WTF Racing. James Hiller has discussed the ‘shock’ he felt when it was announced that OMG Racing and WTF Racing have both withdrawn from racing. Hillier has ridden for Alan Gardner’s OMG Team on the roads since 2022, when he first piloted a Yamaha R1. However, since then, the road racing team has been named ‘WTF Racing’ after OMG Racing became the official Yamaha UK BSB team. The one-time TT race winner was set to return with WTF Racing for the 2025 road racing season. According to Helmut Marko, Max Verstappen is “not happy” with Red Bull’s decision to replace Liam Lawson after just two race weekends. Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko has revealed that four-time champion Max Verstappen is “not happy” after the team decided to drop Liam Lawson ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix. After just two race weekends of his rookie Formula 1 season, Red Bull announced that Lawson is moving back to its sister team Racing Bulls, and Yuki Tsunoda will be taking the spot alongside Verstappen from the Japanese Grand Prix onwards. The Milton Keynes squad assessed both Lawson and Tsunoda in the latter stages of the 2024 season to decide who would replace Sergio Perez in the team for 2025.
