The new Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. rider line-up for the 2027 season has landed. The Iwata factory has confirmed that current World Championship leader Jorge Martin, and Dutch GP winner Ai Ogura, have signed with the Yamaha Factory MotoGP Team for the 2027 and 2028 MotoGP seasons. Jack Miller’s place on the MotoGP grid for 2026 is far from assured — but Honda are keen to secure the Aussie’s services for their WorldSBK team, according to recent reports. While it’s understood a formal offer hasn’t been signed off, sources in the paddock suggest that Miller is firmly on Honda’s radar. The Japanese manufacturer — still trying to unlock results since returning to full-factory status in 2020 — is believed to be considering new and experienced talent for a reset, and Miller’s vast MotoGP experience with four brands makes him a standout candidate. Jonathan Rea ruled out of Phillip Island World Superbike GP

Jonathan Rea has been ruled out of the opening round of the 2025 World Superbike Championship after sustaining fractures to his left foot in a crash during Monday’s official test at Phillip Island in Australia. The Pata Maxum Yamaha rider came off at the Southern Loop during the opening practice run, resulting in a red flag. Rea was taken to the medical centre for a check-up and has been declared unfit for this weekend’s first round of the season. The 38-year-old had been running outside the top ten when the incident happened, with Rea credited with the 15th fastest time after the conclusion of FP1 with a best time of 1’30.885s, completing 20 laps before his crash. Yamaha encouraged by Sepang testing performance

While Honda made some strides forward at Sepang this week, Yamaha appears to have taken significant strides toward reclaiming a competitive position in the MotoGP field. While it’s still too early to draw definitive conclusions, further assessments in Thailand next week will provide more clarity. Yamaha confirms V4 engine plans for MotoGP

Yamaha, which has raced Inline four-cylinder engines since the start of the MotoGP era, is ‘busy developing a V4 powerplant’. Yamaha Racing managing director Lin Jarvis confirmed the news in an interview with MotoGP.com. Jarvis stopped short of giving a timeframe for the V4’s debut, which will be “when it is quicker than the Inline”. But the engine is already being bench-tested and could be on track “in the middle of next year”. “I can confirm that we are busy developing a V4 powerplant,” Jarvis said. “It’s something that goes back a while, because when Suzuki was still here, there were two manufacturers running with the Inline4. And obviously the other competitors running with the V4. “In the last years, however, we’ve seen many, many technical developments in this sport and of course Suzuki stepped out. Lin Jarvis to step down as Yamaha MotoGP team boss

Long-time Yamaha MotoGP team boss Lin Jarvis will leave his role at the end of the 2024 season. Jarvis is 66 years old and has been at the helm of Yamaha’s racing division for 26 years. As Yamaha team boss, the Briton played a very important role in the resurrection of the company in the mid-2000s. Together with Davide Brivio, he was able to convince Valentino Rossi to join the project in 2004 when the Italian was already a three-time champion with Honda. With Rossi, Yamaha took the title in 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2009, before entering the era of Jorge Lorenzo, who was crowned champion in 2010, 2012 and 2015. After a period of dominance for Marc Marquez and Honda – six titles out of a possible seven between 2013 and 2019 – Fabio Quartararo regained the crown for Yamaha in 2021.
